Two retro dresses

These are two retro-styled dresses that I constructed some years ago. On the left is a 100% cotton gauze style with high empire waist and bell sleeves. Trimming is matching dark green and metallic gold braiding. There is also coordinating dark green cotton plaid trimming along the sleeve ends. This dress is from an old Butterick pattern from the 1970′s. On the right is a 100% cotton poplin broadcloth summer dress that I designed as well as constructed. The trimming is a bright red medium width ric-rac. Full gathering is just below the bustline. A square neckline and short cap sleeves, along with a back sash tie, complete the design. Both dresses feature back zipper closures. The hemlines on both dresses are mid-calf.

Eyelet blouse: original design

ladie's eyelet blouse
This is a 100% cotton eyelet blouse that I designed and constructed some years ago. The sleeves are wrist-length, with drawstring above-elbow ribbons. The bodice is fully lined with 100% cotton broadcloth. An attached white 100% cotton sash is at the high [empire] waistline. The sash snaps on and off for easy dressing and laundering. The neckline is rounded, and the closure is a back zipper. This blouse provides the vintage look that I so love, plus is made of all natural cotton, which is something else that I love. The turquoise dyed color is also quite beautiful, don’t you think?
